Manure to Energy Projects Are Not Sustainable

Research published in Environmental Justice, May 2021, exposes the dark side of factory farm gas, so called ‘biogas’.

The paper, The False Promises of Biogas: Why Biogas is an Environmental Justice Issue, explains why factory farm gas is not sustainable and how manure-to-energy projects perpetuate the social injustices and public health concerns created by industrial agriculture.

The study also examines policies that can help protect communities and independent farmers most affected by the damages of industrial livestock operations.

SRAP is proud that members of our team contributed to this important study.
