How much do you know about the food on your plate? Find out on Thursday, April 4th when SRAP, Assateague Coastal Trust (ACT) and the Lower Eastern Shore Engagement Network (LESEN) presents a screening of Eating Animals at The Globe in downtown Berlin, Maryland from 6:00PM-9:00PM.

Based on the best-selling book by Johnathan Safran Foer, narrated by co-producer Natalie Portman, and directed by Christopher Quinn (God Grew Tired of Us), Eating Animals is an urgent eye-opening look at the environmental, economic and public health consequences of factory farming. Tracing the history of food production in the United States, the film charts how farming has gone from local and sustainable to a corporate Frankenstein monster that offers cheap eggs, meat and dairy at a steep cost: the exploitation of animals, the risky use of antibiotics and hormones, and the pollution of our air, soil and water.

Spotlighting farmers who have pushed back against industrial agriculture with more humane practices, Eating Animals offers attainable, common sense solutions to a growing crisis while making the case that ethical farming is not only an animal rights issue but one that affects every aspect of our lives.

The evening includes a meet and greet and film discussion with three of the farmers and advocates featured in the film: Craig Watts of SRAP, Rick Dove of Waterkeeper Alliance, and Larry Baldwin of Emerald Coastkeeper.

SRAP is a member of LESEN, a coalition that includes ACT, CATA Farm Worker Support Group, Future Harvest CASA, Fair Farms, and the Surfrider Foundation. LESEN serves as a unifying force for organizations seeking to promote policies and practices that empower, educate, and engage communities on economic, environmental, and social issues pertinent to the Eastern Shore.
